Burn Out. It's The Real Deal.
Let’s get vulnerable here.
How many of you have experienced or continually experience “burn out?” It’s a real thing I see people struggle with continuously. Taking care of your mind and your body is important, burn out takes a huge toll on both of these.
People often ask me how I do it, how I prevent “burn out” while working my full-time career, running my online consignment shop, networking and sharing my Farmasi product obsession, all while having a family and maintaining a social life. I’d be lying if I told you, it’s always been this way. I've been burnt out too.
People assume its all about time management. If you know me, you know this is impossible for me – I am the queen of multi-tasking, and you will catch me doing at least two things at a time more often than not. I work hard and some days we need to give more than others. Let's be honest, busy people like us can't “cut back on work or take on less” because mentally, it just is not going to be happen.
My answer, self-care (and my love for what I do). Point blank.
Whatever that may look like for you, it is an absolute must. As little as 5 minutes can be that “make or break” for your mental health. For me, self-care looks like a lot of different things. Sometimes it’s a few minutes, sometimes it's an hour, sometimes a day or even a weekend. Trust me when I say, it’s not always easy battling your own mind, but finding ways to create balance is worth it.
A few of my personal tips/tricks to prevent burn out:
- Some days I love a hot bath, always with candle light, epsom salt and bubble bath. Some days I throw on some “zen music” and close my eyes, other days I watch a show on my iPad and sit back.
- Journaling, planning, making lists and notes – these are HUGE for me. Journaling my thoughts and feelings helps me get them out and on paper. Reflecting back whether on your own, with your therapist or your doctor. Planning, lists and notes are my lifeline, not because I am forgetful by any means (sometimes I wish I could forget more) but because I have SO much going on all the time, and my brain just never stops. I am always thinking of all the things I want or need to do, new ideas, plans, trip and reno ideas (for the record, I currently have 28 notes in my phone).

- Drive. Throw on some music and just get lost in it. Music is SO good for the soul.
- Declutter. Whether my house or my socials, I am constantly purging, archiving and deleting. Social networking is a large part of my businesses and removing people and content that no longer serve me is a great mental release for me.
Don’t resort to sleeping the stress away, drinking or doing drugs to “forget about it” because it will still be there when you wake up tomorrow or come down from your “high.” Prioritize yourself. Take care of yourself.

Want me to share some other tips, tricks and recommendations? I will anyways.
