It's Not Goodbye Poppa, It's See You Later.
Poppa,
Our social butterfly has gained his wings tonight. I will miss your stubbornness, your laugh, you smacking me while laughing at me and all of your hugs and kisses. You were known and loved by so many, this loss will definitely have a huge impact on the Beaver Lake community, but you get to see Grannie again after 5 (short for us, but long for you), months.
I will never forget the jokes you shared with Steph and I during our countless visits over the past year. The history you shared with us too, you were so bright, as if everything in life had just happened. Your memory was full and that leaves me smiling, knowing you lived such a fulfilling life.
Poppa, we are so glad we spent time with you and have all of these memories to carry us through our loss. Your side kick will dream of coffee at 5am on the beach while you eat your apple and Oatmeal, waiting for us to get up and make you a gourmet "second breakfast" you pretended you didn't want as you ate every last bite.
I promise to continue fishing all the secret spots, catching the biggest fish and playing "dumb" when people ask me where I caught it. My heart aches knowing our plans for this summer are plans no longer, but with that said, I am so grateful we spent a week at camp together last summer enjoying our last fishing trip, our last fish fry, beach clean up, talks about your life and countless laughs.
You are reunited with the love of your life again, Grannie. 5 months without her was far too long for you, and seeing you so lost without her was heartbreaking. I am so glad you are with her again, even though it means being without you here. I love you, you are pain free and we will miss you.
